Buddh Gaya It is regarded as one of the most famous Buddhist pilgrimage destinations and is dominated by the historic brick Mahabodhi Temple Complex, which was constructed to commemorate the location where the Buddha received enlightenment beneath a revered Bodhi Tree. The site of Lord Buddha's enlightenment is where the Mahabodhi Temple is situated. A 50 m (170 ft) tower rises from the temple. Around 1880 saw the restoration of the current temple. There is a sizable Buddha in the inner sanctuary. A Siva-linga that was erected around 860 has also been placed in the temple's centre. Because Lord Buddha is Lord Vishnu's ninth incarnation, this shrine holds special significance for Hindus as well.
